Promoters of the just ended bout between Briamah Kamoko and Bastie Samir, Box Office Sports Promotions, says the gate fee for the fight was intentionally raised to deter a class of people from trooping to the Bukom Boxing Arena.
According to a member of the Box Office Sports Promotions, Michael Nii Yarboi Annan, there was tension in Bukom and its environs due to the bout, necessitating the decision.
Popular stand for the bout was GHC50.00 while that of VIP was GHC100.00, yet the Bukom Boxing Arena was full to capacity.
Michael Nii Yarboi Annan told Onua FM’s Ghana Dadwene that “we raised the gate fees to deter some people due to the tension in the area. If we had reduced the fee, people would have come more than this”.
He said “we need bigger place for boxing because Bukom Arena is 5,000 capacity but we need a place like stadium which can accommodate more people”.
Analysing what led to Bukom Banku’s defeat, Mr. Yarboi Annan said “so many things led to his defeat but the main one was the reduction of his weight and lack of concentration”.
“He came to the ring not concentrating. He was over confident. He came in just to take Bastie out”.
