The founder of the All Peoples Congress (APC) has called on residents of Bawku to be tolerant of one another in order to achieve total peace and development in the area.
Dr Ayariga made the call when he joined Muslims in Bawku on Tuesday to to celebrate the this year’s Eid-ul-Adha.
Eid-ul-Adha is celebrated in commemoration of the respect and obedience by Prophet Ibrahim and his son Ismail. Animals especially ram, are slaughtered to enact that respect to Allah.Addressing the Muslims, Dr Ayariga said achieving peace for in their communities will require that they tolerate each other, which he said would bring about peace and stability requisite for development.
He said being tolerant and forgiving was the surest way to fostering unity among the people as it would finally invite God’s blessings upon their lives and communities.
He urged the youth of the area to see themselves as national assets and ensure they nurture themselves into human resource for national development since a nation’s pride depends on its youth.
Dr. Ayariga commended the youth of Bawku for their proactiveness in maintaining the peace being enjoyed in the area, and urged them to focus on maintain law and order so as to make them responsible leaders in future.
Chief Imam of Bawku, Mohammed Mutala during his sermon after the prayers, charged the people to use Islam as a tool for development but not destruction because the religion stands for peace and unity.
Mallam Mutala reminded the people to observe the Eid celebrations with a sense of sacrifice.
He called on the youth to stay away from drugs and focus on acquiring quality education as it was the only thing that could secure a better future for them and their dependents.Malam Mutala said Islam was a practice from God and that anyone who joins it should practice it with the will of God and hold on to it, urging all not to undermine God’s will because it would secure their salvation.
He urged the people to believe there was one God and wait for his time and not to find ways to enrich themselves because he would judge all one day.
He reminded the people to observe the Eid celebrations with a sense of sacrifice and share with the poor and the needy as God would bless anyone who shares.
Other religious faith in the Bawku municipality was present at the Eid to show their solidarity to the Muslim community.
