Minister of State at the Office of the Vice president, Alhaji Boniface Abubakar Saddique has stated that he feels very proud to have been sent to work at the presidency.
The former Minister of Inner Cities and Zongo Development noted that, although he is yet to start work as a minister of state, he is contributing his efforts to the development of the country through other means.
According to the Member of Parliament for Madina who was speaking on 3FM’s Sunrise morning show, although he is yet to pick his job description from the office of the Vice President, he believes it is a test of leadership irrespective of which ever position he finds himself in.
“I am very proud to be sent to the Office of the Vice President…I am yet to start work in full swing in the office of the Vice President. I am contributing my little quota to the development of this nation, my position is not a demotion,” he stated.
In August this year, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo carried out his first ministerial reshuffle under his government, which led to a change in positions for some ministers.
As a result, Alhaji Boniface Abubakar was moved from the Inner Cities and Zongo Development to the Office of the Vice President as a Minister of State.
His position was taken by former Information Minister, Dr. Mustapha Hamid.
However, some concerns were raised by NPP members and some politicians, with many believing that the movement of Alhaji Boniface Abubakar to the Vice President’s office is a demotion.
Some of these critics also said his new position was unconstitutional.
But the former Inner Cities and Zongo minister stated emphatically in his interview on 3FM that his new position cannot be regarded as unconstitutional since it is within the presidency.
“The Office of the Vice President is under the presidency, you cannot say the Minister of State at the office of the Vice President is unconstitutional.”
