Ghana will take a 10-member team to the IAAF World Championships in Doha 2019, which starts from Friday, September 27 to Sunday, October 6.
The team features the African 4x100m relay gold medalists’ quartet of Sean Safo-Antwi, Benjamin Azamati, Martin Owusu-Antwi, Joseph Paul Amoah and reserve Edwin Kwabla Gadayi.
Ghana is represented in the women’s section by the 4x100m relay team who make a return to the world stage, having qualified at the Yokohama World Relays earlier this year.
The quartet of Flings Owusu-Agyapong, Gemma Acheampong, Persis William-Mensah and Hor Halutie are joined by relay reserve Deborah Acquah for the show down in Doha.
Ghana has only one athlete in the individual event.
Sprinter Joseph Paul Amoah would compete only in the men’s 100 meters after opting against taking part in the 200 despite being eligible for that event too.
The US-based athlete says that is due to the heavy schedule of the event.
