Ghana’s coronavirus cases are now 39,075.
This is the latest update released by the Ghana Health Service (GHS) on Wednesday, August 5.
It came after 574 new cases were confirmed. These follow over 700 cases posted on the Service’s website earlier in the day.
From the latest case count, eight persons have died from the virus, increasing the death toll from 191 to 199.
The recoveries-cum-discharges are now 35,563.
This leaves the active cases for the country at 3,313.
The tally for the nation’s capital region, Greater Accra, has increased to over 20,000.
The 20,080 cases with 1,888 active ones stretch the next region’s, Ashanti’s of 9,588.
Three regions – Upper East, Upper West and North East – are currently without any active cases. The Savannah Region is battling with one active case while the Northern Region has two active cases.
Out of the national active cases, 23 are said to be severe and seven are critical with five on ventilators.
