President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has consoled families who lost relatives in last Tuesday’s church collapse at Akyem Batabi in the Eastern Region.
The uncompleted six-storey building, which belongs to The Church of Prosperity with Prophet Akoa Isaac as spiritual leader, collapsed while about 60 members were worshiping.
Rescue operations led by the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) since Tuesday have seen 17 dead bodies retrieved from the rubble as of Thursday, October 22.
Eight persons, also rescued, are receiving treatment at the Oda Government Hospital.
President Akufo-Addo, in a tweet, wished them well.
On behalf of Government and the people of Ghana, I send my deepest condolences to the families of the 15 persons who lost their lives tragically in the church building that collapsed at Akim Batabi near Oda. I wish the 8 injured persons a speedy recovery.
