Legon Cities sack head coach after GPL slump
Legon Cities FC have sacked head coach Goran Barjaktarevic after 11 months in charge.
The Bosnian-German was hired in December 2019 after their then coach John Paintsil, “was relieved of his role following his failure to meet the Club Licensing Regulations which clearly stipulates the qualification required by head coaches in the Premier League”.
In the truncated 2019/2020 season, the Royals occupied the 15th position with three wins out of 15 games.
In the transfer window, he was given the needed boost to spark confidence for the season as 12 players were signed including Ghana’s all-time topscorer, Asamoah Gyan and wonder kid, Matthew Anim Cudjoe.
However, Goran Barjaktarevic did not utilize them to their full potential.
Their 3-0 loss to Accra Great Olympics was the last straw that broke the camel’s back for his employers and he has been shown the exit.
Currently, they sit 15th on the GPL table and it’s not clear who will be in charge of the team.
Their next game is against Premier League favourites, Medeama SC.
