As International Women’s Month 2024 comes to a close, 3FM embarked on a journey to honor and spotlight the remarkable achievements of women in agricultural technology and innovation.
The culmination of the celebration saw five outstanding women in the agric tech and value chain innovation, take center stage to pitch their groundbreaking ideas during the Sunrise Morning Show on March 28.
The finalists, Augustina Akosua Asor Tufuor, Founder and CEO of Tropical Snacks (Producers of Joy Chips); Joyce Konadu Idun, CEO and Lead Formulator of Essential Cosmetics; Christabel Ofori, Founder & Head Formulator at FlocareBeauty; Enyonam Manye, CEO & Founder of Count on Crops hub/Farmer; and Mrs. Rahmat Tsotsoo Sai Jimah, CEO of Chopbox Express, were given a platform to showcase their pioneering ventures during the 3FM Sunrise Morning Show with Helen Appiah-Ampofo.
Each participant was allotted five minutes to present their products, share the inspirations behind their ventures, highlight achievements, and outline their future goals. Under the keen scrutiny of esteemed judges Josiah Kwesi Eyison, CEO and Co-Founder of the I Space Foundation; Hannah Acquah, Founder/CEO of TKC Africa; and Emmaline Datey, Startup and HR Consultant CEO of ICS Africa, the finalists faced rigorous questioning, delving into the intricacies of their innovations.
Following the intense pitching session, Augustina Akosua Asor Tufuor emerged as the winner, impressing the judges and audience alike with her innovative approach to snack production at Tropical Snacks. Asor Tufuor’s victory was met with excitement as she secured GHC50,000 worth of marketing and media exposure, including radio and TV promotions, social media campaigns, and marketing consultancy.
Joyce Konadu Idun secured the position of the first runner-up with her groundbreaking formulations at Essential Cosmetics, while Mrs. Rahmat Tsotsoo Sai Jimah clinched the title of second runner-up with her innovative venture, Chopbox Express, aimed at revolutionizing food delivery services.
The ultimate prizes were presented to the winners by Lois Kissiedu, the Head of Station, in a moment of celebration and recognition of the extraordinary achievements of these women in the agricultural sector.
The event not only celebrated their success but also served as a beacon of inspiration for aspiring female entrepreneurs, encouraging them to continue pushing boundaries and driving innovation in Ghana’s agricultural industry and beyond.
