Dreams FC are on the cusp of a historic achievement as they aim to book their place in the semifinals of the continental club competition.
The Ghanaian side holds a slender 2-1 advantage from the first leg in Bamako and will look to finish the job at home.
The experience of veteran striker John Antwi looms large. The 30-year-old has scored four goals and provided two assists so far in the campaign. His guidance will be crucial for a youthful Dreams FC side featuring several players contesting their first major tournament.
“It’s not easy playing in multiple competitions simultaneously, especially for these young players experiencing it for the first time,” said Antwi. “In the past when I played in Egypt, we’d have four tournaments in a single season. The fixture congestion takes a toll, but the boys are giving their absolute best.”
One of those young stars is midfielder Abdul Aziz Issah, who has been directly involved in six goals. His performance, along with that of goalkeeper Solomon Agbesi, could prove pivotal in the second leg.
Dreams FC boast a perfect home record in the competition thus far and will fancy their chances of outright victory, though a 1-0 loss would still see them through on aggregate. A fairytale journey continues to unfold for the Ghanaian upstarts.
