TV3’s Central Regional correspondent Thomas Cann reported that some supporters of Chris Arthur, the NPP parliamentary candidate were heading to Agona Swedru from a campaign launch at Otinkorang a community within the Agona West enclave but met some supporters of incumbent MP and now an Indeoent candidate, Cynthia Morrison at Agona Nyankrom who were embarking on a campaign.
A gun was fired hitting one Haruna Rashid the campaign team manager for Chris Arthur, sustaining injuries in the ribs.
Several other party supporters also suffered injuries in the process and were rushed to the Agona Swedru Government hospital.
The constituency Chairman for the NPP, Jabril Tanko spoke to the media after the incident.
“Rather unfortunately our Nasara Coordinator was shot, we rushed him to the hospital but he was referred to Korle Bu. This shooting incident is strange in Agona West, we have never seen it before despite having done politics for several years, we have filed an official complaint at the Police and the Police have assured us that the perpetrators will be arrested,” he said.
