The Ayew brothers grabbed a goal each in a spirited second half display to see Ghana through to the semifinals of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations with a 2-1 victory over DR Congo on Sunday.
The Black Stars were forced to endure a poor opening 45 minutes but put their acts together and looked geared up for victory.
On 62 minutes, striker Jordan Ayew displayed individual brilliance after feeding off a Mubarak Wakaso pass before curling home a luscious effort into the top corner.
But five minutes after taking the lead, Ghana were caught sleeping, allowing Paul-Jose M’Poku to equalize with a sensational curling long-range effort from outside the box – 1-1.
Captain of the day, André Ayew then converted a penalty awarded Ghana through Christian Atsu with a left footed shot to the bottom right corner, handing Avram Grant’s men a 2-1 victory.
Ghana are now two matches away from breaking the elusive Afcon trophy drought since they last won in 1982.
The Black Stars next face Cameroon in the semifinals.
