Intelligence is the ability to acquire and apply knowledge and skills.
Wow! So how come in almost all instances, we seem to dwell at acquiring and then pause or stay at the knowledge level for a very long time?
What do I mean by this? The point is you are supposed to apply the knowledge for it to eventually turn into a skill.
The acquisition of knowledge is where one keeps on analysing, overthinking by asking for more knowledge by searching through information in the form of data upon data through databases. This is where mentally we have completely analysed, distilled all the processes and eventual outcome of all the processes in our heads. Mentally we have covered all that needs to be covered.
The management of the project has also been executed perfectly in our mental state or status. Mentally all the possibilities have been mapped out. The plan upon plans; the project management nuances. What to do at every phase in case things do not go as intended and so on.
Adaptability programmes drawn. Strategies to be implemented and so on. I mean we can go on and on and on, especially when we are being mentally intelligent.
Many a times, we move it from mental state onto a wall projector or sheets of paper.
We will use our pointers or markers to do all the assimilations from our mental intelligence.
This stage is the phase where we say everyone should contribute at this meeting.
As we continue with this exercise, we are just being mentally intelligent. We are still in ideal state of preparation.
The crucial part of applying all the data or information, which is the knowledge, is lost on us because we are still mentally debating.
Mental intelligence is so beautiful and perfect.
Until one starts or a team starts doing whatever it is, it cannot be considered as the application of knowledge. You apply knowledge when you test it practically. Practising it.
If one does not put whatever project to test by working it, it can never be applying the knowledge. It is only when you start testing or practising it in real time that will make one or team get the skills. You get skills by doing it. It does not matter how little of the project you do – begin to test or practice; that is the only way of getting the skills needed.
For instance, you can be very mentally intelligent by doing a business plan but on applying the knowledge of the business plan, one would realise they are worlds apart when it comes to practising the business plan.
Again, one would anticipate how he or she would deal with a situation mentally and the intelligence to work with; but when it does happen in real time, one would realise that mental intelligence is different from the skills in handling it.
Till you start testing whatever mental intelligence to a real time situation, one can never have the skill to handle it. In doing something well, one needs to practise it over and over and over again to be consistent with eventual predictable results.
