The People of Gomoa Ekwamkrom in the Central Region are mobilizing resources to construct a three-unit classroom block estimated at GH¢ 200,000.
Mr. Emmanuel Akomprah, the Planning Committee Secretary of the Annual Akwambo Festival 2018 of the people of Gomoa Ekwamkrom, said the people are financing the project which has started through fundraising and levies from the people.
He said the construction of the new Junior High School block would add up to the only primary school of the town constructed by the Methodist Church decades ago.
Mr. Akomprah said education is the key to national growth and the well-being of citizens, therefore parents should use their resources to the educatee their children.
He appealed to NGO’s and other corporate bodies to come to their aid.
Akwambo festival means “path-clearing,” is celebrated by the people of Agona and part of Gomoa states in the Central Region of Ghana.
The colourful festival starts in the month of August and attracts a lot of people from the length and breadth of the country to witness the activities involved.
This year’s celebration being held under the theme: “Uniting Ekwamkrom Citizens for Development”, was earmarked with activities including Candle Procession, General Cleaning, Trotting, Dwendaama Eating Competition, Yellow Night, Ekwamkrom Strongest, Purification of Omankradow’s Stool, Purification of Dadzeban, Gala Match, Pick Nick, Durbar, and a Thanksgiving Service.
