The board of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) has announced that it has nullified two highly competitive awards that were not announced at the recently held 2019 edition of the awards ceremony.
Addressing the press on Thursday (May 23, 2019), the chairman of the VGMA board, Amandzeba Nat Brew said that the two awards, Most Popular song of the year and Artiste of the year, have been made null and void.
“…The two remaining awards that were unannounced on that night, that is the most popular song of the year and the artiste f the year have for the 20th edition been nullified,” Amandzeba said at the press conference.
The two have also been stripped of any award that they won on the night.“The two artists are hereby stripped of all awards they won at the 20th VGMA and are thus requested by the board to return all plaques in their possession to Charterhouse effective immediately.”
Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy brawl at VGMA
The two nearly brought the 20th edition of the VGMA to an abrupt end when a scuffle broke out between their fans after Shatta Wale moved towards the stage while Stonebwoy was about giving his acceptance speech for winning the Reggae/Dancehall artiste of the year award.
They spent Sunday night in police custody and were granted bail on Monday.

Prior to the announcement by the board of VGMA, Shatta Wale announced that he will no longer take part in any VGMA event.
