The grand finale of Citi FM’s The Literacy Challenge comes off today with the top ten finalists battling it out for the ultimate prize of GHc10,000.
It will be in the form of a general quiz competition that will test the students’ critical thinking, oral and numeracy skills, among others.
The competition will take place at the Swiss Spirit Hotel where the students have been camping since Wednesday.
The Literacy Challenge commenced in July 2019 where JHS students across the country wrote a 600-word limit essay on the topic:
“In recent years, indiscipline on our roads has led to the loss of many lives. In light of this, write an essay, suggesting ways to solve this problem, in order to help Ghana’s economy to grow and develop.”
A lot of entries were received and shortlisted to 50.
The 50 students were in Accra last week to take part in an aptitude test after which the number was further reduced to 10.
The top ten finalists had since Wednesday been touring a number of companies including Citi FM/TV and Fan Milk.
They also had the opportunity to visit Silver Bird Cinema and enjoyed mentoring sessions from some leading media personnel including the host of the Citi Breakfast Show, Bernard Koku Avle.
The quiz competition will begin at 12pm.
The 2019 Literacy Challenge is powered by Citi FM with support from Citi TV, Fan Choco and Old Mutual.
