Dagbon Forum, a Non-profit Youth Development Association, has donated some essential items to the Tamale Central Hospital, two Municipal and nine District Hospitals in the Northern Region to aid the fight against the spread of COVID-19.
The Forum has also donated to the Gbewaa Palace, the Mion-Lana and Yoo-Naa Palaces.
The items include 50 (100ltr) and 50 (80ltr) Veronica buckets, 50 Galons of Liquid soap, 100 (200ml) pieces of Hand Sanitizers and 120 (medium) pieces of tissue rolls.
The donation was made possible through the contributions of individual members of the group.
Presenting the items, Alhaji Sintaro Mahama, the National Vice-President of the group, said the donation is part of their support to the national COVID-19 fight.
He said the Association is particularly mindful about the health of the people of Dagbang in these very trying times.
Alhaji Mahama called on all sections of society to work diligently towards preventing the spread of the virus as it poses a threat to all aspects of life.
He urged natives of Dagbon to continue to observe the social distancing protocol, and adhere to all other safety measures such as hand washing under running water, wearing of nose masks, and the regular use of hand sanitizers to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Mr. Mahama also called on government, traditional leaders, civil society groups and local communities, to work towards addressing the negative economic and social impact of COVID-19 in the region and the country at large.
Mr. Abdulai Fatawu, the Administrator of the Tamale Central Hospital on behalf of the two hospitals, said the donation was timely, as the hospital still needs more of such items.
Mr. Fatawu said attendance at the Tamale Central Hospital has reduced due to the COVID-19.
Dagbon Forum was registered as a non-profit organization to promote development and sustained peace in Dagbon and Ghana at large.
