Kumasi, May 05, GNA – The New Asafo M/A Basic School in Kumasi has received a large donation of educational materials to enhance teaching and learning.
These included calculators, mathematical sets, notebooks, markers, pens, pencils, rulers, crayons, scissors and glue sticks.
They were a gift from Game - a multi-departmental retail store.
Mr. Marco Rocha, the Marketing Officer, handing over the items at a ceremony, said it was its contribution towards assisting the school children with some of the basic things they needed to perform in the classroom.
He indicated that as a good corporate citizen it was eager to be associated with the development of the nation’s education.
This was based on the recognition of the critical importance of education to the socio-economic growth of any society, he added.
He encouraged the school children to work hard on their books, telling them that, it was the path to success.
Cutting corners, he reminded them, “would simply not do, and it is not the way to go”.
Mr. Foster Opoku, the head teacher, said they were grateful for what he termed as “the wonderful gesture”.
He said the supply of the learning materials would help to provide strong boost to teaching and learning in the school.
