Accra, Sept. 23, GNA - A book titled; “The Mfantsipim Dream,” authored by Mr Magnus Rex Danquah, Founder of Rics Consult Limited, and an old student of Mfantsipim School, has been launched in Accra.
The 98-page book talks about the meaning of Mfantsipim, its logo, motto, anthem, school flag and brand.
Mr Danquah said the book was a holistic interpretation of the history of the school and tells about the exploits of John Mensah Sarbah, who left the school for England with his late father in 1881.
He said ‘Mfantsipim’ means the ‘Soul of the Mfantsi People,’ where soul was defined as; “Spirit or essence of a person or collective spirits of group of people bound by common values, traditions and heritage.”
He said the book was to inspire present and future generations to appreciate the thought process by the school hymn, the crest, and the motto.
Mr Danquah explained that the rationale for writing the book was to ensure holistic and sustainable development growth, and the expansion and management of the school as a complete end-to-end educational institute of excellence at all levels.
The book also reminded and instilled into the products of Mfantsipim the school’s traditions and culture and urged students to keep the fire burning so as to continuously raise high it’s flag and institutional image.
“Mfantsipim is about fearlessness, humility and boldness, raising men of valour and virtue in every sphere of human endeavour, from every community through districts to national and the global village,” he added.
Mr Danquah said his outfit would organise three sets of essay competitions every year whose themes would be taken from the book adding that a mentorship session would be held to guide the students in their careers.
He said he also planned to institute an internship programme for students of the school to prepare them for tertiary institutions and the job market.
Dr Frank Adu-Asante, the Chairman of the Mfantsipim Parents-Teacher Association, said the book would awake the youth, especially the students, to learn and know about the history of the school.
He urged all students and parents to buy the book, saying 20 per cent of the proceeds would be given to the school to motivate teachers to give off their best.
