Takoradi, April 3, GNA – Hundreds of revellers and holiday makers marked Easter Monday, with outdoor activities.
The Easter Monday, a day after resurrection Sunday, has become synonymous with merry-making and this year, the Sekondi/Takoradi Metropolis has not been spared of lots of social gatherings to mark the day.
A visit by the Ghana News Agency to some beaches, restaurants, pubs, bars and food joints showed revellers enjoyed themselves with food and alcoholic beverages.
At God is Love Chop Bar, many people were seen ordering food and drinks among other edibles.
Though many shops had been closed, the shell shops and few supermarkets that were operating were cashing in on the revellers who were picking items for the celebration.
Meanwhile some local radio stations like Radio Maxx and Empire organized family fun day and feast for the poor as a means of bringing hope to destitutes .
The various beaches were not spared during the holiday as people thronged popular paces such as Vienna, Anlo, Funko and Last hour beaches to have a feel of nature’s health.
The young and old were seen having fun amidst all types of music genre.
The churches within the metropolis also engaged in outdoor games at the 'Haza cars Park' to celebrate the day in a more responsible manner.
Meanwhile, Reverend Samuel Kwesi Abraham, Founder of the Fire Glory Chapel, told the GNA that the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ was for Christians and non-Christians alike to take retrospection of their lives and rededicate their lives to the service of God.
“Easter Monday is not for drinking and merry-making in a way that is not socially acceptable but rather a day for sober reflection and reconciliation to Christ,” he added.
Reverend Abraham entreated Christians not to join the band-wagon but use the period for meaningful activities that brought hope and increased faith in God to all human kind.
