Ho, Aug. 1, GNA - Mr Nelson Kwesi Akorli, Ho Municipal Chief Executive has cautioned that the Assembly would soon clamp down on excessive noise making in the Municipality.
Addressing members of the media at a soiree organised by the Assembly, the MCE said churches in particular had been noted for disturbing the public peace with noise above the tolerable levels.
Mobile marketing vans also break the quiet atmosphere of the regional capital and said measures were being put in place to address the issue.
Mr Akorli said the Assembly on New Year’s Eve temporarily closed down some places of worship over excessive noise making.
He asked religious organisations to consider the peace of others especially at night, and said the Assembly would enforce the necessary by-laws in that direction.
The MCE also said the Assembly’s task force would be activated to deal with the menace of indiscriminate refuse disposal at places such as markets, lorry stations and in storm drains.
He said the task force would also rid the streets of vendors and called for media support to inculcate the spirit of responsibility in the citizenry.
