Apremdo, Aug 01, GNA – Nana Mozu VIII, the Queen Mother of the Apremdo Traditional Area has announced that the kingmakers were preparing earnestly to install a new chief to enable the community have a recognised traditional ruler to spur development.
She said traditional rites were officially performed November last year to de-stool the reigning chief, Nana Kwamina XI on the grounds of social misconduct.
The Deposed Chief, according to her, had been officially relieved of his duties by the Apremdo Stool and the Ahantahene together with the council on grounds of beating the leadership and kingmakers of the community, fighting in public, indiscriminate sale of lands and destruction of the only public place of convenience in the area.
Another charge levelled against the deposed chief is “squandering” of seed fund for the Apremdo Tertiary Education Trust Fund, a scheme aimed at helping to raise the standards of education in the area.
Nana Mozu XIII told the Ghana News Agency in Takoradi that the issue that broke the Camel’sback was the celebration of the Kuntum festival when the funeral of the late Chief and Queen mother were yet to be performed, “traditionally until the funeral is done, no celebration is supposed to be carried out".
The Kingmakers together with members of the stool, according to her, have decided to install Nana Kwamina XII known in private Life as Solomon Nketsia Antwi who is currently undergoing all traditional processes to enable him to be out-doored in the near future.
Nana Mozu XIII therefore called on the community to exercise patience in anticipation that the community would soon have a new chief to project the growth and development of the area.
She also urged corporate bodies and institutions to have trust in the kingmakers and transact business with them for the common good of all.
