Abidjan, Aug 28 (AIP) - The President of Burkina Faso, Roch Marc Christian Kaboré, visits Beijing, China, from August 29 to September 05, to attend the Beijing Forum on China-Africa Cooperation.
The Presidency in a statement said the visit would be used to revive and strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.
This is the first state visit by the President Kabore to China since the resumption of diplomatic relations between the two countries on May 26, after 24 years of interruption.
He would among other things be laying a wreath at the People's Heroes monument at Tiananmen Square and a welcoming ceremony at the Grand Palais du Peuple where he and the wife would be received by President Xi Jinping.
President Kaboré would inaugurate the Burkina Faso Embassy in Beijing, tour some companies and participate in high-level economic meetings.
Many Burkinabè businessmen and economic operators would also be travelling to Beijing under the auspices of the Burkina Faso Chamber of Commerce.
He would join his peers at the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation from September 03-04 to set the new direction for Sino-African relations.
Burkina Faso severed relations with China because it had relations with Taiwan.
