Kenyasi (B/A), Dec. 10, GNA - Newmont Ghana Gold Limited (NGGL) Ahafo Mine has donated 10 refuse containers worth GH¢120,000.00 to the Asutifi North Assembly to facilitate effective waste management in the District.
Presenting the items at Kenyasi in the Brong-Ahafo Region, Mr. Joseph Danso, the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Manager for the Ahafo Mine, said as responsible stewards of the environment, the Mine thought it prudent to allocate some funds to support waste management in the area.
That, he explained was in line with the Sustainable Development Goal Three (3), which is ensuring healthy lives and promoting the well-being of all, and the Goal Six (6) which ensures availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation.
Mr. Danso urged the Assembly and other stakeholders to promote healthy and hygienic lifestyles to reduce the disease burden, which drastically impacted on the national budget.
“We will continue to collaborate with all stakeholders to create value and improve lives through sustainable and responsible mining” the CSR Manager assured.
Mr. George Padmore Mensah, the District Coordinating Director who received the items on behalf of the Assembly, expressed profound appreciation to NGGL Ahafo Mine for its support in managing waste in the District and hoped that the items would greatly help in improving the standard of living of the people in the District.
He also promised to ensure that the containers would be well-maintained to optimize its value.
