Techiman (B/E), Mar. 15, GNA – MTN Ghana, the country’s largest telecommunication company has presented Gh¢5,000.00 and assorted drinks in support of this year’s celebration of the “Apoo” festival by the chiefs and people of Techiman in the newly-created Bono East Region.
The Company also presented Gh¢500.00 worth of airtime to the chiefs, as the people prepare to mark the 2019 festival in April.
Mr. Osei Akoto, the Northern Sector Commercial Manager of MTN Ghana said the presentation formed part of the Company’s corporate social responsibility programme towards the preservation of the country’s traditional and cultural heritage.
“MTN acknowledges and appreciates contributions of traditional authorities as key development partners and we are happy to support this and other festivals because they give us the opportunity to showcase our rich cultural heritage as a nation”, he said.
Mr. Akoto explained MTN had declared 2019 as the “Customer Year”, and assured its customers of improved, excellent and quality telecommunication services.
He indicated that more than four million people had directly and indirectly benefited from over 142 development projects initiated and executed by the MTN Ghana nationwide.
Such investments spread across health, education and economic empowerment, Mr. Akoto added.
Nana Korsahkore Topia II, the Gyaasehene of Techiman Traditional Area who received the donation on behalf of Oseadeeyo Akumfi IV, the Paramount Chief of Techiman thanked MTN Ghana for its continuous support towards the celebration of the festival, and appealed to the Company to extend the activities of the MTN Foundation to benefit the people of Techiman.
He also appealed to other corporate bodies to support either in cash or kind to make the celebration successful.
