Accra, March 21, GNA - An Accra Circuit Court has remanded a man for allegedly robbing a Bureau National Investigation (BNI) Officer of his motorbike valued GH 3,500.00.
Antony Ajah Tochukwu, unemployed denied conspiring with four others to rob Mr Razak Mohammed Danso.
He is to make his next appearance on March 25.
Tochukwu’s four accomplices are currently on the run.
Prosecuting, Police Inspector Samuel Ahiabor told the Court presided over by Mr Aboagye Tandoh that the complainant lived at Abeka in Accra whilst the accused person had no particular place of abode.
He said on January 23, 2018 at about 1930 hours the complainant was riding his official motorbike from Dzorwulu heading towards Abeka.
Inspector Ahiabor said on reaching a section of the road at the Abofo footbridge, near Abelenkpe, the accused person and his four accomplices on their motorbikes blocked the complainant and robbed him of his motorbike at gun point and bolted.
The Prosecution said on January 27, 2018 at about 2000 hours, the Tesano Police Patrol Team received a distress call to the effect that some men on motorbikes attempting to rob unsuspecting pedestrians at Abelenkpe Dimple roundabout close to Achimota Forest.
The police swiftly proceeded to the scene but the gang on seeing the police, jumped onto their bikes and sped-off but the accused person left his motorbike behind and took his heels.
Inspector Ahiabor said the accused ran to a distance from the scene and but with the help of a taxi driver he was arrested and brought together with his motorbike to the police station.
Police Ahiabor said during police investigation the complainant came to identify the motorbike as his.
