Tefle, (V/R) March 22, GNA - Project Maji, an NGO in collaboration with Global Living, has inaugurated a solar-powered mechanized borehole water facility for the people of Kpordiwlor Tefle in the Volta Region.
About 400 inhabitants would be benefiting from the facility, a new technology called Solar Water Kiosk, which will supply them with over 4,000 litres of potable drinking water daily.
Mr Sulnil Lalvani, the Chief Executive Officer of Project Maji, said the provision of the facility formed part of the organization’s corporate social responsibility in responding to the needs of communities.
He said the Volta River Authority (VRA) supported in the allocation of the site, adding that, the facility would improve water quality and eliminate water borne diseases such as Bilharzia, which had become common in the community.
Mr Lalvani stated that the initiative would relieve children and school kids from trekking long hours to fetch water, adding that, over 30 of such projects had be constructed across the country.
He said the company’s target was to reach one million Ghanaians in 1,000 sites by 2025.
