Oda Nkwanta (E/R), Dec. 06, GNA – The Birim Central Municipal Assembly through its chief executive has cut the sod for the construction of a Community Health Planning Service (CHPS) compound at Oda Nwanta in the Eastern Region.
Madam Victoria Adu, the Birim Central Municipal Chief Executive performed the sod-cutting during her inspection tour of projects in some communities of the area.
She advised community members to handle the new facilities such as school buildings, health centres and markets with care and to maintain them to prolong their life-span.
Mr Francis Onai, the Head of Works of the Assembly said the CHPS compound was estimated to cost GH¢385,922 and had been awarded on contract to FRANBIS Construction Company Group, to be completed in six months.
Nana Dwamena Akenten II, the Chief of Oda Nkwanta expressed gratitude to the Assembly for the project and said it would go a long way to solve the health needs of the community, who had to travel far for medical attention.
The CHPS compound was facilitated by Mr Dennis Obeng Agyei, the former Assemblyman for Oda Nkwanta and also an aspirant for the forthcoming District Assembly Election on December 17, 2019.
He said the Assembly had also awarded on contract a teachers’ bungalow project at Akim Gyadem to K.S. Construction and Business Complex at the estimated cost of GH¢140,254.08 and that was expected to be completed in six months.
