Takoradi (W/R), Dec 16, GNA - Mr Selorm Debrah, Veterinarian in charge of Aowin Municipality in the Western North Region, has been adjudged the best veterinary ambassador.
The award was bestowed on Mr Debrah at the Western and Western North Veterinary Service Department maiden award ceremony held in Takoradi.
The theme for the celebration was” Revenue generation, the role of the veterinarian”
Mr Debrah competed among allied professionals and was selected to represent the country outside Ghana.
The ambassador was therefore recognised for his courage in representing the country in Maputo, Mozambique which was an unprecedented achievement.
He also submitted his report timely and contribution to the veterinary fund without reproach.
Speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) about his award, Mr Debrah said “I am grateful and honoured to receive this award and l will use it to further the cause of animal welfare in the Western, Western North Regions, Ghana and world at large”
He thanked the event organizers for the initiative and encouraged the young veterinarians to be dedicated to duty at all times and congratulated his follow awardees for the achievement.
Fourteen veterinarians and two veterinary supporting staff were rewarded for promoting the international standards of animal welfare.
All the award winners received certificate of honour.
The animal welfare award recognised and reward veterinarians who in their daily lives contributed to the protection and welfare of animals and have provided outstanding and exemplary welfare related services to animals, animal owners, fellow veterinarians and the public.
