Accra, Dec. 17, GNA - Voters in the Ablekuma North Constituency warm-up to cast their ballots in the District and Unit Committee Elections as they gradually pill-up at Polling Stations.
During a monitoring visit by the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at some polling stations within hours after the opening of polls, it was observed that electoral officials were ready for the task ahead with arrangement of electoral materials and security presence.
Mr Benjamin Sarbah, the Presiding Officer at Hindu Monastery Polling Station in the Otaten Electoral Area at Ablekuma North, told the GNA that materials arrived at about 0600 hours.
He said he had tried reaching out to the Electoral Officers but they were yet to respond and bring the other materials.
He said as at 0900 hours two hours after the opening of polls, only 46 voters had cast their votes.
At the Gloryland A Polling Station, the total vote cast was six out of a total 505 eligible voters and with Gloryland Polling Station, only three persons had cast their vote out of a total of 506 eligible voters, two hours after the opening of polls.
Mr Kofi Charles, a Presiding Officer at Gloryland B Polling Station in the Akwei-Bu Electoral Area, said most of the voters were going about their daily businesses and expressed the hope that they would cast their ballots later in the day.
