Sunyani, Dec. 20, GNA – The Sunyani Area Teacher’s Cooperative Credit Union as part of its 30th anniversary celebration has presented medical items worth GH¢20,000.00 to three major health facilities in the Sunyani Municipality.
The items comprised a quantity of bed sheets, pillow cases, weighing scales, theatre and recovery gowns, veronica buckets, towels, refrigerators and rubber sandals.
The beneficiary facilities were the Sunyani Regional and Municipal Hospitals and the Seventh Day Adventist Hospital.
The Union, established in 1989 with a current membership of 20,000, has already donated 10,000 pieces of exercises books and pens worth GH¢50,000.00 to public and private basic schools in the Bono and Ahafo Regions.
Making the presentation at a short ceremony held at the premises of the Regional Hospital, Mr Kwabena Adusei, the Board Chairman, said education and health services are very paramount to the development of every nation.
He appealed to the Management of the Hospitals to take good care of the items adding that the Union would continue to support the facilities to improve on quality healthcare delivery.
Mr Adusei said the Union has now opened up to the public and invited all professionals to register and join.
Mrs Martha Oppong Gyargye, the Head of Nursing at the Regional Hospital, who received the items, thanked the Union for the assistance and pleaded for more support.
She said the items would greatly alleviate the plight of the Hospitals and speed up the recovery processes of patients.
Mrs Gyargye appealed to other corporate bodies and philanthropic individuals and organisations to come to their aid as well.
