Egyptian side Al Ahly have appointed former Real Sociedad manager Martin Bernardo Lasarte as their new head coach, GHANAsoccernet.com can confirm.
The Uruguayan coach was unveiled after signing one-and-a-half-year contract with the Red Devils on Sunday.
"Lasarte is officially our new coach after signing the contract following a meeting with club president Mahmoud El-Khatib," Al Ahly's football director Abdel-Hafiz told reporters.
The 57 year-old is replacing Frenchman Patrice Carteron who was sacked last month following a defeat in the CAF Champions League final and a shocking elimination from the Arab Club Championship.
Lasarte has handled clubs like River Plate, Nacional, Danubio all in Uruguay, Chilean sides Universidad Catolica and Universidad Chile.
He has also had stints in Colombia at Millonarios FC and Al Wasl in the UAE.
