Red Star Belgrade manager Vladan Milojevic announced at a press conference on Thursday, that he is stepping down as the coach of the club despite an 11 points cushion at the top of the Serbian league.
"I've decided I'm no longer the coach of the Red Star. I would like to thank my staff, my family and above all the fans," Milojevic said.
Ghana striker Richmond Boakye Yiadom has describe the decision as sad, but heaped praise on Milojevic as one of the best managers he's had as a player.
"As a coach he is probably the best I have ever had. He's tactically astute, inspires confidence, knows when and how to press the right buttons. He has been a huge part of my development as a player"
"He was father figure for us, there were things he put in place to forster team unity and ensure we had strong bond as a family. Vladan is a former player so he is well steeped in the traditions, culture and philosophy of the club."
What was the most memorable moment you remember him for?
"There were so many special moments but winning the league obviously trumps all, because, that's the first and most important goal for the club and the fans. And ofcourse when we won against Liverpool in the Champions league season, celebration was something else. He made us believe in ourselves."
