The Ghana Association of Southampton (GHASSO) welcomed the Black Queens to the city with a spirited reception on Sunday as the team arrived to complete preparations for Tuesday’s international friendly against England.
Shortly after arriving, the players and technical staff were hosted at the Royal Palace restaurant, where they were treated to a variety of traditional Ghanaian dishes prepared by members of the local community. The event quickly turned into a vibrant cultural celebration, with music, dancing and warm interactions that brought a home-like atmosphere to Southampton.
Players smiled and engaged with supporters, pausing for photos and sharing in the excitement ahead of the high-profile match. Team officials described the welcome as uplifting and timely, noting that it has provided a significant morale boost going into the final phase of preparations.
The leadership of GHASSO includes President Sadat Panford, Former President Ken Konduah, Secretary Cynthia Norman, Organiser Richard Amdoh, Public Relations Officer Thomas Acheampong, Treasurer Mrs Joyce Bekoe, Welfare Officer Mrs Mercy Afari, Cancer Project Coordinator Mrs Felicity Mills and Patrons Dr Obed Bekoe and Pastor Africanus Annan.
The Black Queens will hold their official training session at St. Mary’s Stadium on Monday before taking on the Lionesses of England on Tuesday, December 2, 2025.
