Bibiani Gold Stars coach Nana Yaw Amankwah shared his honest thoughts after his side fell short against FC Samartex, admitting that there are moments when players simply don’t deliver at the time you expect them to.
Gold Stars, who came into the game with a win in their previous game, struggled in the early stages as Samartex protected their unbeaten home run at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena. The hosts struck twice in the first 15 minutes. Emmanuel Kofi Essien opened the scoring inside five minutes, before Emmanuel Mamah doubled the lead from the spot. The two early goals pushed Samartex up to 6th with 21 points, just one behind Gold Stars.
Gold Stars found it hard to settle in the first half, losing balls and failing to connect passes. Speaking to Gold Stars TV, Amankwah did not shy away from the team’s struggles:
"At times players that is how they are what you are expecting from them you wont get it at the right time that is what happened to us. We know we normally conceding early goals and we want to avoid it especially for this game and then the same players who normally do well in the first half also conceded in the second half early goals. So it is part of game we need to go and prepare very well and rectify the mistakes the league is a marathon we are hoping things will be fine."
Bibiani Gold Stars remain 4th with 22 points after 13 games and now shift focus to their next match against Medeama.
