Former Ghana striker Prince Tagoe has backed the Black Stars to advance to the knockout stage at the 2026 FIFA World Cup but insists that it will not be easy to take three points from any of the national teams.
Ghana’s Black Stars were drawn into Group L last Friday when the draw for next year’s World Cup was held in Washington.
In the group, Ghana will compete with England, Croatia, and Panama.
Sharing his thoughts on the draw, Prince Tagoe warned that none of the matches will be easy, urging the Black Stars to prepare well and take one step at a time at the tournament.
“None of the countries are easy to beat at the World Cup. We just have to focus on ourselves and ensure we take it game after game at the tournament. For me, it is easy for us to get five or six points to make it out of our group” he said.
“Ghana can get at least six points from this group, and with proper preparation we can surprise everyone at the World Cup,” Prince Tagoe told Sporty FM.
The 2026 World Cup, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, will feature an expanded 48-team format, giving Africa a record nine automatic slots.
The Black Stars will be making a fifth appearance at the World Stage and will hope to go past the quarter-final stage.
