Ghana international Inaki Williams is expected to return to action for Athletic Bilbao in their Champions League clash against Paris Saint Germain on Wednesday night.
The Black Stars attacker has been named in Athletic Bilbao’s matchday squad for the first time since October following injury recovery. His return come as a huge boost for the Spanish outfit, as they seeks to turn things around after a slow start to the season.
Williams was stretched off in their Champions League game against Qarabag FK two months ago, where the side secured a 3-1 home victory over the Azerbaijani side.
Having missed out on several games for club and country, the experienced attacker is expected to mark his return to action, as his outfit takes on defending champions in a high-stake clash at the San Mames.
The 31-year-old forward already made three appearances for Athletic Bilbao in the Champions League this season, but he is yet to score or register an assist for the club. In all competitions, the Ghana international has scored just one goal in 12 appearances for his outfit this season, with his only goal coming in the La Liga.
His return is timely amid Athletic Bilbao’s struggles in Europe. The Spanish club has only managed four points from the initial five Champions League games and currently find themselves in the 28th position.
However, Williams, who is the captain of Athletic Bilbao will have to steer the side to victory to bolster their chances in the competition.
