The head coach of Nigeria’s Super Eagles, Eric Chelle, has admitted that his team needs to improve at seeing off games after their opening match against Tanzania at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Chelle’s side was wasteful throughout the match on Tuesday, but fortunately managed to secure a 2-1 victory at the end of the 90 minutes.
Speaking in his post-match interview, the coach shared his delight about the victory, but stressed that his team must work to kill off games.
"We are satisfied with the three points. That is the most important. For the moment, I want to focus on the positives. The second part of the game shows clearly that there is still some work to be done â especially when it comes to killing the game. We are aware of this, and we will work on it,” Eric Chelle said.
The narrow win over Tanzania leaves Nigeria second in Group C with 3 points, same as Tunisia in first place but behind on goal difference.
The Super Eagles will have the chance to go top of the table on Saturday, December 27, when they take on the Carthage Eagles.
