Lead by the Chairman of the Ghana Boxing Authority, Lawyer Peter Zwennes, the team which included Ghana's first world boxing champion David Kotey, aka, D.K. Poison, former WBA Welterweight Champion Ike 'Bazooka' Quartey,two-time former bantamweight world champion Joseph 'King Kong' Agbeko and a host of other boxing greats congratulated President Nana Akufo-Addo on his feet of annexing the highest office of the land and also invited him to witness the 'Freedom Fight Night'which is part of the celebration of Ghana’s 60th Independence anniversary.
In a post on the President's official Facebook account the Nana Akufo-Addo wrote the following
"A delegation, comprising the leadership of the Ghana Boxing Authority, led by its Chairman, Peter Zwennes, together with current and former Ghanaian boxing champions, paid a courtesy call on me at the Presidency this morning."
"The purpose of the visit was to congratulate me on my election as President of the Republic, and to invite me formally to the “Freedom Fight Night”, slated for Saturday, March 11, at the Bukom Boxing Arena, Accra, which is part of the year-long celebration of Ghana’s 60th Independence anniversary."
The Freedom Fight Night will feature Ghana's Richard Commey vrs Hedi Slimmani, in a WBC international lightweight championship at the Bukom Boxing Arena on March 11. Also on the bill is Fredrick Lawson and Duke Micah, both representing Ghana. Read Full Story
