The Black Queens started their campaign on homesoil with a deserved win courtesy a 20-yard strike from striker Gladys Amfobea.
Ghana should have recorded a more impressed scoreline having created a plethora of chances against their North African opponents.
A combination of poor finishing and heroic goalkeeping from Kahina Takenint saw all the chances created by the Black Queens – save the goal – spurned.
And coach Hayford admits this is an area he needs to work on ahead of subsequent games against Mali and Cameroon.
“We squandered a number of chances,” he said.
“We should have scored about five goals today so clearly this is an area we’ll be looking to improve.”
Ghana will next face Mali on Tuesday before wrapping up its group campaign against Cameroon. Read Full Story
