The company says it has uncovered over a hundred cases of recruitment scams in which individuals have been defrauded of up to GHC 5,000 Cedis with the promise of securing a job at COCOBOD.
According to the Ghana Cocoa Board, the troubling trend which is bringing the companies name into disrepute has been going on from as far back as October 2018.
The fraudsters as part of their modus operandi use names of prominent persons at COCOBOD including top executives as well as names of prominent individuals in society to lure unsuspecting Ghanaians into parting away with thousands of Ghana cedis.
While pointing out the severity of the situation, Francis Opoku, the Director of Human Resource at COCOBOD, cautioned unemployed Ghanaians against such fraudsters.
“We take this opportunity to bring to the notice of the public, particularly prospective employees, that COCOBOD has not asked anybody to act as an agent of any sort to find employees for COCOBOD. If anybody comes to you and says pay me money to help you get employment at COCOBOD, you must know it’s a fraud.”
The COCOBOD recruitment scam comes two years after the former Director General in-charge of Human Resource at the Ghana Police Service, COP Patrick Timbilla was fired for his role in a botched police recruitment scam back in 2015.
For Mr. Opoku if perpetrators of the recruitment scam are found to be employees of COCOBOD or anywhere else they will be made to face the full rigors of the law.
He finally cautioned influential Ghanaians against unknowingly aiding perpetrators of such crimes by allowing their names or likeness to be used in duping people. Read Full Story
