MTN Ghana Foundation has announced its intention to procure medical supplies worth GH¢5 million to support the government in the fight against the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
The medical supplies include personal protective equipment (PPE) and other essentials required for the fight against the disease.
Based on MTN’s consultations with the Ministry of Health, the list of items to be provided include 10,000 virus sampling kits; 10,000 boxes of N95 Masks, 10,000 boxes of gloves; PPEs (Overalls) 7,500; four PCR Machines (to be used for testing), RNA Extraction Kits, 3,000,
Infrared thermometers, 300, and 3,000 disposable bed sheets.
The package, the second phase of MTN’s commitment, is to directly combat the disease and help the medical team provide the needed care to Ghanaians.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of MTN Ghana, Selorm Adadevoh, while commenting on the Foundation’s support on Monday, said: “COVID-19 is, unquestionably testing the fortitude of society, and we all have a role to play in helping the country to overcome this global challenge.”
Mr Adadevoh further said: “MTN will continue to monitor the global situation closely,” and urged its employees and customers to strictly adhere to the recommendations of the World Health Organisation, Ministry of Health and Ghana Health Service.
The Board Chairman of MTN Ghana Foundation, Prof. Franklin Manu, said, “The MTN Ghana Foundation has been at the forefront of Corporate Social Investments in the country, hence, the approval of the amount for the purchase of the much-needed medical supplies.”
He noted that the situation at hand needs the interventions of all Ghanaians.
