An assembly member at Kpone-On-Sea, in the Greater Accra Region, Nii Tettey Addy aka Killer, has been arrested by the police for assault and also causing bodily harm to a mason.
A Tema Regional Police Command source who confirmed the arrest of the assembly member for the Afieye Electoral Area to The Chronicle accused Killer of arrogating to himself powers of the security agencies by going round to enforce the lockdown order.
According to the police source, in the night of last Monday, Killer led an illegal group of lockdown enforcers at Kpone-On-Sea and spotted one Odaa Nuertey aka Sabato, a mason and his wife in front of their house.
The group reportedly confronted the couple who they accused of violating the lockdown order. This generated into argument leading to alleged assault on the mason by the unlawful group. The assembly member was alleged to have used a chain to whip Sabato several times resulting in bodily harm.
A report was made to the police at Kpone-On-Sea who issued the victim with a medical form to attend hospital and subsequently apprehended the assembly member.The police source went ahead that he has been charged and would be put before court on Tuesday.
