The Northern Regional Police Command has re-launched fresh investigations into the murder of Number 5472 Policewoman Cpl Agatha Nana Nabin to consolidate the prosecution of the four suspects in the case.
The Attorney General’s Office, early this year, directed the police to withdraw the charge of murder it proffered against the suspects, but proceed with the other charges.
They are, Issahaku Yakubu Kambo Naa, alleged to be the leader of a deadly group that operates in the northern sector of the country, Nashiru Mahama Nana, driver/mechanic civilian employee at the Airborne Force (ABF), the Para Battalion wing of the Ghana Army, Anas Kampola, a sub leader, and Zuka Abdela, alleged to be the arms storekeeper/armourer for the unlawful group.
The Northern Regional Judicial Police Officer (Jupol), Superintendent Robert Boatey, disclosed this to the paper in a telephone conversation.
According to the Jupol, enough and solid evidence would strengthen the prosecution’s bid to convict the alleged murderers.
Cpl. Agatha Nabin was on Tuesday, July 30th, 2019, posted for night duty at a checkpoint, together with other personnel on the Tamale-Kumbugu road.
At about 22:45 hours, the duty personnel flagged a salon car to stop, and when it did, four armed masked men emerged from it in military camouflage over desert boots.
Cpl Agatha Nabin, upon seeing them, screamed ‘Jesus Jesus’, only for the gun-toting men to fire at her head, shattering it completely.
Within 72 hours, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr James Oppong Boanu-led operation in the northern regional capital smoked out Kambo Naa and the other members.
