After months of pressure from its main opponent, the New Patriotic Party (NPP), the umbrella family, National Democratic Congress (NDC), has completed its manifesto.
The flagbearer of the party, former President John Dramani Mahama, received what he called the ‘People’s Manifesto’ yesterday, ahead of the outdooring of his running mate.
Acknowledging receipt of the manifesto, Mr Mahama indicated that he would have a Policy Dialogue Series to share details of the various sectors and themes of it.
Mr Mahama took to his Facebook page to say, “I have received a copy of our Manifesto for the December 2020 elections from the Manifesto Working Committee. This document, ‘The People’s Manifesto’, will represent the NDC and my social contract with the good people of Ghana. I thank you all for your contributions to the compilation, and, as I have promised, I look forward to the Policy Dialogue Series through which I will be sharing details of the various sectors and themes of the Manifesto.
The former President and the NDC were largely criticised by the NPP for pleading with the public to share ideas to aid in their manifesto compilation.
Addressing a news conference, the NPP National Communications Director, Buaben Asamoa, said the NDC was confused to have asked the over 30 million Ghanaians for ideas.
“Having set up a Manifesto Committee, their first model of business is to ask 30 million Ghanaians to think for them.
“I think, perhaps, we should help them, because they are very confused. Even with all the time on their hands in opposition, they can’t find ideas to generate a manifesto that is capable of managing the affairs of this country by choice,” he added.
