A former Ningo-Prampram Constituency Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has urged his party constituency executives to work hard to register a resounding victory for the party in the 2020 general elections, to stop the New Patriotic Party (NPP) from challenging the results at the court.
The party, Michael Tetteh Kwetey said, “needs to beat the NPP very well at the polls, such that the votes margin will discourage them from holding the country hostage like they did in 2013 after they lost the 2012 elections. We are going into the elections with political litigants, and for us in the NDC we need nothing but a huge margin to shut them up.”
Michael Tetteh Kwetey told NDC executives during his tour of five new constituencies he has adopted in the Ashanti and Eastern regions that their party’s 2020 victory is non-negotiable, in view of the complaints of economic hardships and physical infrastructures the sitting government has deprived Ghanaians of.
The newly-adopted constituencies are Bosomtwe Adansi, Akrofoum, Ayensu Annor, Upper Manya and Fanteakwa.
This brings to a total of 12 under-resourced constituencies Mr Kwetey has adopted to provide logistical support to encourage the party executives in these constituencies to give off their best ahead of the 2020 general elections.
At each of the constituencies, Michael Tetteh Kwetey said, except the NPP and a few persons close to the government who are living well, majority of Ghanaians are devastated by the ham-handed government, led by President Akufo-Addo.
“Who is not bitterly complaining of economic suffering in Ghana today? Ghanaians cannot endure another four years under this abysmal government, except they and their close associates.
“The signs are obvious that discerning Ghanaians are yearning for a change and return of John Mahama and the NDC. We can’t disappoint the majority who prefer the NDC to the NPP,” he said.
He pleaded with the executives to close their ranks, relegate bickering, and unite for the good of the NDC and Ghanaians who can no more endure under the NPP and President Akufo-Addo.
After closed-door meetings with the executives at each constituency, Mr Kwetey presented some branded quality Lacoste T-shirts of John Mahama, NDC’s presidential candidate, and his running mate, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, with an undisclosed amount of money to his hosts to hit the ground running.
So far, he is the only NDC member who has adopted and is financing the highest number of constituencies ahead of the December 7 elections.
Michael Tetteh Kwetey said he would be extending his support to his home constituency soon.
It would be recalled that the presidential candidate of the NDC launched ‘Operation Adopt A Branch, Constituency’ earlier this year in Accra to encourage party members to get involved in the campaign as they work to win the 2020 general elections.
