MTN-Ghana has donated Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to the Sawua and Asokore Mampong Traditional Councils to help prevent the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
The items included face shields, nose masks, hand sanitisers, Veronica buckets, packs of tissue and hand washing soaps.
Mr. Charles Osei Akoto, Senior Technical Head, MTN- Northern Business District sector, said the company was committed to ensuring that the public adheres to all the protocols against the COVID-19 pandemic.
He noted that to enhance public education towards containing the spread of the COVID-19, MTN decided to donate the items in support of the two traditional councils to enable them protect themselves, as well as their people.
Mr. Akoto indicated that MTN was carrying out similar exercises to other traditional authorities across the country.
He said the donation was also intended to create awareness towards the need for people to protect themselves against the COVID19 pandemic, hence, advertisements on COVID-19 through carefully crafted text messages and mounted billboards at vantage points in cities across the country to sustain campaign.
He said by its position, the company needs to educate the public on the right ways to wear their masks, as well as take precautionary measures against the pandemic.
Nana Kwaku Amankwaa Sarkodie II, Chief of Sawua, expressed his profound gratitude to MTN for the kind gesture.
He noted that the COVID-19 was still lurking around and urged the public to take all precautions given by the Ministry of Health in order to protect their lives.
Nana Boakye Ansah Debrah, Chief of Asokore Mampong, advised the public not to throw caution to the winds, but to strictly adhere to the COVID-19 protocols until the disease is eventually announced to be eliminated.
