President Akufo-Addo has pleaded with Ghanaians to vote for him because he has been a faithful servant for the past four years. According to him, his development projects have been spread to all corners of the country, and that he would continue to do same when given the second chance to lead the country.
Speaking at the New Patriotic Party (NPP) campaign launch in the Hohoe Constituency as part of his campaign tour of the Volta Region yesterday, President Akufo-Addo said his commitment to ensure the rapid development of the country had clearly been shown in his first term of office. He assured the people of the Volta Region that the Eastern Corridor Road, which is dear to their hearts and that of the nation, would seriously be tackled in his second term.
According to him, works were already ongoing on parts of the road, and that his second term would see more development. He, however, pleaded with the people of Hohoe to vote for Mr Peter Amewu, NPP parliamentary candidate for the area, to help him execute the plans he had for the country.
Nana Addo further told the people that Hohoe was earmarked to be the regional capital of the Volta Region, but was taken away from them because the people were believed to be supporting the United Party (UP), which is now the NPP, during the President Kwame Nkrumah regime. To him, the opportunity still remains if the people would still demonstrate their loyalty to the UP tradition.
He also expressed satisfaction with the preparedness of the chiefs to promote peace in their respective communities, which is also the aim of the government.
The National Organiser of the NPP, Mr. John Boadu, said the 2020 general elections had created the opportunity for Ghanaians to make a relevant decision between the party and National Democratic Congress (NDC), which would always give the people hope for the future and that of the NPP.
The aspiring Member of Parliament for the NPP in Hohoe, Mr. John Peter Amewu, thanked the people for the decision to vote for him and Nana Addo, saying the resolve by them this time to change their pattern of voting and vote for him, Nana and the NPP, ought to be regarded as the turning point for the future prospects of the people.
The Volta Regional Chairman of the party, Mr. Makafui Kofi Woanya, said the difference between the NPP government and the previous NDC one was that while the NPP brought development to the people of the Volta Region, the NDC was only rejoicing in getting the votes of the people and cared less about their development.
“You see, how can the NDC convince the people of the Volta Region this time to believe that the party is for them, therefore, they should vote for it, when there is no representation from the Volta Region at the national decision-making body?” he asked.
The Volta Regional Minister, Dr. Archibald Yao Letsa, who was happy about the positive development in the Volta Region and Hohoe Constituency, said it would be a better deal for the people to vote massively for Nana Addo and the NPP parliamentary candidates to ensure competition in the region.
