The Central Regional Police Command has arrested a 56-year-old, Samuel Odartei, who has been operating in Assin Adadientem and its environs as a medical doctor.
The self-acclaimed medical practitioner was arrested at a time that other unsuspecting patients were patiently waiting in a queue to seek his service.
Mr Odartei’s arrest was caused by the Complaints and Investigative Unit of the Ghana Medical and Dental Council, Accra, which acted based on intelligence that the suspect had been practicing without proper documentations.
A statement from the Public Relations Unit of the Regional Police Command indicated that the arrest was effected by police from the Adadientem Command.
The statement indicated that: “Personnel from the Assin Adadientem Police Command acted upon information that led to the arrest of 56-year-old suspect Samuel Odartei, an alleged quack doctor.”
According to police information, the suspect “had, over the years, been practicing the profession from his residence at Assin Adadientem No. 2, at a created designated structure.”
The team also arrested a 30-year-old suspect, Alberta Lanuekor, a daughter of the busted quack who was in a pair of gloves busily dressing a patient’s wound.
The busted father and daughter are currently in the hands of the police to assist in further investigations, while a variety of operating items including prescriptions and over-the-counter medicines discovered at the facility have been kept as exhibits.
