The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, has equated the political mantra of the flag bearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) President John Mahama to reset Ghana as the annulment of laudable interventions like the Free Senior Higher School Program (Free SHS).
Chairman Wontumi alleges that Mahama’s explanation for resetting Ghana is to scrap every policy by the NPP government in the unlikely event that he returns to power.
Such action, according to Wontumi, should not be given another opportunity to return the country to the days of hopelessness and despair.
The regional chairman made these assertions at a meeting with constituency executives, electoral area coordinators and assembly members in the Afigya Kwabre South, as part of his constituency tour in the region.
Giving his logical import of the reset mantra of the NDC, the Ashanti NPP Chairman explained that “to reset means to wipe out everything completely.”
To this end, Wontumi argues that allowing Mahama to reset the country means he has a well-calculated vision and plan to scrap all social intervention policies that are working under this Akufo-Addo and Bawumia government.
“This means John Mahama is going to completely wipe out free education. He is going to wipe out all the pro-poor policies of this government. And we must, as a matter of seriousness, work against his coming back,” the regional chairman added.
Touching on how to revitalise the base of the NPP party at the Afigya Kwabre South constituency, Chairman Wontumi asked that all fan clubs, keep fit clubs and all social clubs in the constituency be revived and supported.
In view of the above, he promised that he will ensure all needed logistics are available to them.
He said the party’s manifesto is what will move the district forward.
The regional chairman further gave the indication that the next Bawumia-led government will give attention to assembly members with his promise of an electoral area common fund.
With the DRIP equipment, chairman Wontumi told party members that, apart from the road projects that have been given out on contract, the provision of the DRIP equipment is to ensure that all local roads are tackled by the districts themselves.
He also introduced the parliamentary candidate, Daamata Appianimaa Salam, to her constituents and urged that they give her the much-needed support.
The regional chairman embarked on a house-to-house campaign in areas such as Kodie Taxi rank, Buoho market, Magazine and Maase Station.
Also, Wontumi is expected to touch base with the people of Atimatim, Taabuom and Chairman Junction and finally visit the old Atimatim Palace.
