Four armed robbers have been gunned down in a joint operation by the Bekwai/Fomena Police.

The security agency has named the deceased armed robbers as Samson, aka Sammy Tugah, W.K, Daniel and Efo, while the fifth person who received injuries is on admission at the Bekwai Government Hospital.
The Ashanti South Regional Police Commander, ACP Joseph Nyaaba, while briefing the media said robbers have been terrorising residents of Adansi and Amansie for some time now.
The Commander catalogued eight instances where these six persons teamed up to inflict pains on innocent persons through their robbery activities.

He mentioned that early this month the group went to the Adansi Rural Bank at Fomena and stole an unspecified amount of money.
They again mounted a roadblock on the Akrokerri-Anwiankwanta road and robbed passengers of their money.
ACP Ayaaba noted that last Saturday the police received intelligence that the gang was embarking on a robbery at a mining site near Sanfo Aduam, in the Bekwai Municipality, and the police rushed to the scene.
The Commander said on arriving at the site the suspects opened fire and the police also returned fire which hit five of them. He said four of them were pronounced dead at the Bekwai hospital while the fifth person is receiving treatment.
The police retrieved one AK 47 rifle that was taken by the robbers in February, this year, two pump action guns, seven live ammunition and 17 live AA cartridges.
